My story continues in Parallel, the idea of which has haunted me for many years. I have always felt as if a part of me is still in Russia. I needed to know what would become of me have I not met Meg. Would I have the guts to stand up for myself on my own, having no support or example of freedom? I want to believe I would.
In Parallel, Elena, the today me, with the experience and years of freedom, meets the other me, Yelena, living in Russia in 2005 who has never met Meg. Yelena’s only hope of claiming her life back is a tenuous link with Elena via a rift in time and space. While Yelena, in turn, has become the very support Elena needs to go on in her own world and her only connection to the Russia she fled from years ago.
